Care Instructions for Wool Garments

Washing Machine Method:

• Preparation: Turn your wool garment inside out or place it in a mesh laundry bag to protect it during the wash cycle.

• Water Temperature: Set your washing machine to use cool or cold water to prevent shrinkage and damage to the wool fibers.

• Detergent: Use an appropriate amount of wool detergent, which is specifically formulated to be gentle on wool fibers.

• Check Settings: Double-check the settings to ensure they are suitable for wool before starting the washing machine.

Hand Wash Method:

• Fill Sink: Use lukewarm water to fill a clean sink or basin. Avoid hot water, as it can shrink or felt the wool.

• Add Detergent: Add wool detergent to the water and mix it in gently to create a consistent soapy solution.

• Soak Wool: Submerge your wool garment in the soapy water and let it soak for about 10 minutes. Do not rub or wring the wool.

• Gentle Agitation: Gently swirl the garment around in the water to help remove dirt and oils.

• Rinse: Rinse the wool under clean, lukewarm water until all soap is removed.

• Remove Excess Water: Gently press the wool against the side of the sink to remove excess water. Alternatively, roll the wool in a dry towel to absorb more moisture, then gently press the towel without wringing.

Drying:

• Do not wring or twist the wool to remove water, as this can damage the fibers.

• Lay the wool garment flat on a dry towel to dry, shaping it into its original form if necessary.

• Allow the garment to air dry away from direct heat or sunlight, which can cause shrinkage or color fading.

Ironing (if necessary):

• Use a cool iron on wool garments if needed, but it’s best to avoid ironing delicate wool items.

• Always test on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure the heat level is safe for your garment.
